Waiting for the safe return of our heroes
The Chinese Lantern Festival is a time for family reunion. But a team from Johnson Controls was away from their family and in Wuhan to meet the emergency needs of a people hard hit by the novel coronavirus outbreak. The Johnson Controls team was working hard to help Taikang Tongji (Wuhan) Hospital construct a makeshift hospital.
We called them heroes in the fight to save lives, putting themselves in harm’s way. But they replied with a smile that they were only ordinary people.
45 minutes
"Build it! Must build it! The outbreak is urgent! Give it our full support!”
It took just 45 minutes for the Johnson Controls team to make the key arrangements and plan for this mission, which was to provide full support for building the infrastructure of the makeshift hospital, including the communications system, the safety system and the elevator alarm system.
12 hours
"Do it! And also protect our heroes! Ensure their safety!”
Within 12 hours, the company's first batch of medical protective supplies such as protective clothing, goggles, and masks had arrived. At the same time, colleagues from all over China sent forth material goods and well wishes to support and encourage the team of heroes.

20 hours
The advanced group comprising the project leader and engineers set off immediately. They arrived in Wuhan within 20 hours. They discussed and confirmed the construction plan, then raced against time to complete the building of the makeshift hospital as soon as possible. They said, “Although we cannot directly resist the epidemic like the healthcare workers, we could still contribute indirectly with our engineering skills.”
“I think we can save more people by completing the construction one hour earlier.”

More brave people were coming to assist with the construction of the makeshift hospital. And the Trion air purifiers donated by Johnson Controls arrived at the hospital on February 9.
